Short-Term missions manual

If you are going on a short term mission and are linked to City Church St Albans then please read the Short-term missions manual produced by Elim International Missions Department.

Short Term Missions Manual
Areas of Mission

City Church St Albans has three main areas of overseas mission:

1) Malawi - Trevor and Maggie Mackriell from St Albans are Elim missionaries serving the Elim Pentecostal Churches of Malawi. Also Les and Jackie Dennis from St Albans are building 'Hope Village' for AIDS orphans.

2) Romania - We are supporting a national pastor who is planting pentecostal churches in the north eastern part of Romania. There is also a mercy mission called StARR (St Albans Romanian Relief) that provides practical help for orphans, hospitalised babies, and impoverished families. Also we have a ministry to help young people who are leaving the orphanages and who need help in becoming independent.

3) India - our first missions project, working in the state of Maharashtra with a national leader who is involved with helping the poorest people (untouchable caste) by planting churches, training leaders, providing emergency food, shelter, education, medical help, adult literacy, agricultural provision, vocational training, care for orphans, deep bore wells, and income generating projects.

We also have people in (or have sent teams to) many other countries including South Africa, USA, Argentina, Nigeria, Middle East, France, Czech Republic, Benin/Sierra Leone (Mercy Ships), and involvement with an air support ministry called Helimisssion.

Closer to home we support Keith Hammond who has pioneered a sports ministry called Christians In Football.

STARR Romanian Relief

STARR has been working in Romania for 12 years and has taken over 100 different individuals there to experience first hand living and working in Eastern Europe. STARR continues to work with people from all generations and walks of life in this neglected country.

STARR has four main focus areas:
working with babies in the hospitals
working with children in the orphanages
feeding the hungry
with teenagers and students through the project Nadejde

The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood on it, cut the animal in pieces and laid it upon the altar.  She went on to tell them that Elijah then commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar and to do this three times. "Now,” said the teacher, "Can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would tell Elijah to pour water over the animal on the altar?"  A little girl in the back of the room started waving her hand, "I know! I know!" she said, "To make the gravy!"
